Aapél
Apple (Malus domestica)
- Apples are an introduced fruit. The name aapél comes from the English word apple, which speakers adapted to sound like a Nisenan word.
- Some Nisenan speakers also borrowed the Spanish name manzana, adapting it as mansaaná. The names aapél and mansaaná mean the same thing.
