Muté

California Wild Grape (Vitis californica)

  • The vine of muté is used to tie things like carrying baskets and tule boats.

  • The leaves of muté can be used to form a waterproof barrier when leaching acorn meal and to wrap acorn bread when cooking it in an earth oven.
  • Muté provides food for a variety of wildlife, such as birds.
